ViaUni · For students, by students
Terms of use
Effective 16 September 2026
ViaUni is operated by Ien Meier as an independent, non-commercial project in Switzerland. Contact: contact@viauni.ch. By creating an account, you agree to these terms and the community rules below. Our privacy notice explains how personal data is processed.
1. Who can use ViaUni
You must be at least 18 and legally able to accept these terms. ViaUni helps people connect through Swiss university communities for dating, friendship and studying. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by a university.
Use accurate information about yourself, including your age and university connection. Keep access to your login email secure. Do not impersonate another person, create an account for someone else or bypass an account restriction.
University email verification is not required to use the app. A verification badge confirms access to a supported mailbox; it does not establish identity, age, current enrollment or personal safety. Other profile information is self-declared.
2. Your content
You remain the owner of content you upload. You give ViaUni a non-exclusive permission to store, copy, process and show that content to operate the features you use, including profile discovery, connections, messaging, delivery and safety checks. This permission does not authorize the sale of your photos or their use to advertise unrelated products. It ends when the content is removed from the service, except for limited retention described in the privacy notice or required by law.
Only share content you have the right to use. Respect other people’s privacy and obtain permission where needed. Profile photos undergo automated safety checks, with possible manual review. You must agree to the disclosed photo processing before uploading; three profile photos are needed to complete signup.
3. Community rules
Respect boundaries and consent. The following are prohibited:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, hate, stalking and repeated unwanted contact.
- Child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation, attempts to contact minors, non-consensual intimate material, sexual services, nudity and sexually explicit or graphic content.
- Fraud, impersonation, scams, spam, requests for money and unlawful activity.
- Publishing someone else’s private information, violating intellectual-property rights or sharing content without the necessary permission.
- Scraping profiles, unauthorized automated access, interfering with the service or evading safety measures.
4. Reports, blocking and moderation
You can report or block a profile or conversation in the app. Reports are not shown to the reported person. The operator may review relevant content and records, remove content or restrict, suspend or ban accounts to address violations, protect users or meet legal obligations.
If you believe a decision is mistaken, email contact@viauni.ch to request a human review. In-app reports and support email are not emergency services; contact local emergency services if someone is in immediate danger.
5. Connections and safety
ViaUni does not guarantee matches, a response, someone’s identity or a safe meeting. Use care when sharing information and meeting in person. Do not send money to people you meet in the app. Meet in public and arrange your own transport.
Profiles marked “Fake profile” and identities marked “Demo” are fictional examples used for testing or App Review. They do not represent available real members. A demo conversation may contain prepared messages.
6. Availability and external services
ViaUni is currently free to use. Features may change or be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, security or technical reasons. We will communicate material changes that affect your use of the service. External services opened through links or optional integrations have their own terms and privacy notices.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or rights that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
7. Leaving ViaUni
You can deactivate your profile or request account deletion in Profile → Settings → Account. Deactivation is reversible. Deletion hides your profile and restricts normal access immediately; you may restore the account within seven days. After the recovery window, automated cleanup removes the account and associated stored files, retrying failed steps. Limited backup, support, security or legal records may remain as explained in the privacy notice.
If you cannot access the app, contact support to request help or deletion.
8. Changes and applicable law
We will update the effective date when these terms change and give notice of material changes before they apply. Where required, we will ask for renewed acceptance. You can stop using ViaUni and request deletion if you do not accept a change.
Swiss law applies, subject to mandatory consumer protections and other rights in your country of residence. These terms do not restrict any court or complaint rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.
